Each year, the aarhusianic Kirsten and Gunnar Foundation distributes 1 million dkk to cultural projects in Aarhus. This fall, they announced four extra grants of 250.000 dkk. These extra grants have been earmarked for projects during Music City Aarhus 2022 – the whole city’s musical year, which waits just around the corner.
The recipients of the grant have now been revealed, but the Kirsten and Gunnar Foundation has announced further 5 recipients, which means 9 extra grants for Music City Aarhus 2022 in total. This means that the Fund will distribute 2,75 million dkk to musical projects in Aarhus during 2022.
“The fact that the Kirsten and Gunnar Foundation choses to give 11 out of 13 grants to music projects in 2022says something about the level of ambitiousness in Aarhus’ musical life”, says Jesper Mardahl, head of Music City Aarhus 2022 while emphasizing that the Kirsten and Gunnar Foundation is turning up the volume on the upcoming program.
One of the projects who have received a grant is the classical Artos Quartet, who stands behind the Artos Festival, which is taking place for the first time in 2022.
“A thank you from the heart goes out to the Kirsten and Gunnar Foundation and Music City Aarhus 2022. We are now able to present an array of fantastic musicians – it’s going to be a blast!”, says Brian Frisholm, Festial manager and cellist in the Artos Quartet.
And the story doesn’t end here. The Kirsten and Gunnar Foundation is already announcing a new call in the forthcoming spring, where four new projects can apply for grants of 250.000 dkk.
